Edward Lewis has received numerous architectural awards and commissions throughout the world. These notable projects' locations include Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Spain, Costa Rica, St Maarten, The Bahamas, Saudi Arabia, The Turks and Caicos Islands – and recently, as an architect/developer in Nicaragua.

He is recognized for his designs and his firm's implementation of advance technical into each project. Edward is currently Chairman of the Committee on the Environment - COTE Committee for the American Institute of Architects. He has served on the Board of American Institute of Architects since 1992 and has held every office within the organization; he was president of AIA Miami in the year 2000.

Edward lived in Managua, Nicaragua, where he worked for the University of Tennessee and the ministry of Urban Planning in Managua. During his time in Central America, he was involved in the design of a port city and several other municipal projects. Upon graduation, he moved to Miami and began working for an International Architectural Design Firm. Shortly thereafter Edward was sent by his employer to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to manage the design and construction of a 300-bed, minimal care hospital facility, an outpatient clinic, and a shopping mall project. Later, he returned to Miami and founded ELA.
