Prior to forming Edward Lewis Architects, Edward Lewis worked with one the most important South Florida developer of that time frame, Modulor Development. Edward was an integral part of the development and design team and was responsible for the architectural department. Edward was project manager and designer of many of the buildings designed by the principal of the firm, Alberto Socol, AIA, one of the leading designers in all of the South East, trained in Argentina with Cesar Pelli.
The Courthouse Center is a 300,000 square foot commercial office building designed for the legal profession and was later purchased by Miami Dade County to house administrative office and Family Court Rooms. Edward was project manager and lead designer for the project. The building is clad with color integral concrete precast panels and has its base enhanced with slabs of granite. The 30 story building contains 22,000 SF of retail, a service area for five semi tractor trailers, and a 500 car parking garage all within its base.
