Pediatric Emergency hospital
Jackson Memorial Hospital
Edward Lewis Architects was retained by Jackson Memorial Hospital to develop a creative youthful design for the Pediatric Emergency Room located on the 1st floor of the East Tower.
Edward Lewis Architects designed a facility that is playful, energetic and full of movement. The entry has the intention of livening the spirits of the users. The curved, colorful wall has a texture and structure similar to that of building blocks. The curved soffit meanders in and out down the hallway and is mimicked in the floor pattern. These patterns lead the user to the triage desk, creating a sense of direction. The unit has been segregated into a pre-triage, post triage waiting room. This allows for proper observation by the staff as well as a more efficient means of triage. The existing unit will have all of its finishes updated and will be in compliance with ADA and AHCA.
