Doral Country Club

Doral’s -Carol Management Co. owned by the Kaskal Family, commissioned Edward Lewis Architects to provided architectural and engineering services during a five year time frame. The services provided included all the Doral Properties, The Hotel, Country Club, Locker Rooms, Commercial Office Buildings, Single Family and multi-family properties.
The first phase of the project involved adding a front entrance Porte-cochere, exterior remodeling, color scheme, design features, ADA improvements and new designs for the grand ball rooms.
The building and interiors were encapsulated to remove existing asbestos, one of the largest abatement projects of this time in history.
The project required Edward Lewis Architects to upgrade an existing hotel facility rating to a 4 or 5 star facility. The project consisted of over 220,000 square feet of interior space. The schedule required that the existing hotel remain fully operable throughout construction.
The ceilings of the ballrooms were removed and an intricate hard ceiling was installed with theatrical components, to allow for a variety of events to take place.
Additional Phases of the project were performed yearly based on the facilities schedule. The additional phases on the project involved renovating and expanding the Hotel, the Convention Center, existing Restaurants, Kitchens, Front Desk Operations, and Lobbies. Edward Lewis Architects provided Architectural, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Structural Engineering for this project.
The project also required the replacement of many core components including new ADA elevators, restrooms, and mechanical equipment. Also a new fire sprinkler system was designed and added to the building.
