Edward Lewis Architects was commissioned by the Project Management team of Carnival Cruise Line to develop plans for a prototypical terminal for the Port of Miami.

Edward Lewis Architects worked with the end users to develop detailed programs identifying usages, areas, flow characteristics, security and maintenance. The prototypical program was developed to be used for future improvements to the Port of Miami. The Proposed Port Terminal consists of amenities to accommodate the embarkation and debarkation of 3000 passengers for the Spirit, Celebration, Victory and Fantasy Class Ships.

Edward Lewis Architects was commissioned by the Project Management team of Carnival Cruise Line to develop prepare alternate design solutions for site access, building circulation, parking expansion, and stacking plans for the building and for each type of ship.

The prototypical designs were developed to be used both in Miami and at ports in the Caribbean.

The designs included a single terminal servicing one ship at a time totaling over 100,000 SF. It also included a design for a double terminal servicing two ships at a time with a square footage of over 175,000 SF. This double terminal design took advantage of share uses and spaces allowing for stacked areas saving space.
