Miami Dade County Traffic Control Center and Warehouse Facility
The $6 Million, 40,000 Square Foot facility has been designed to house all of Miami-Dade County's electronic traffic control and signalization equipment. The electronic equipment has an in-place value of $14 Million, along with the cost of the facility.
In addition to housing the traffic signalization equipment, the structure contains Electronic Fabrication and Maintenance Shops, Traffic Sign and Maintenance Division, Administrative Offices, and a 'hardened' Hurricane Storm Shelter.
The facility is fabricated from tilt-up concrete panels on the exterior with a composite steel frame structure. The vocabulary of the detailing is intended to express the hi-tech, state-of-the-art technology, thereby articulating the building's fundamental purpose. The vertical structural elements, both on the interior and supporting the exterior canopy, are intended to add a sense of lightness, playfulness, and rhythm.
